I'm the creator of Mewie, a tiny macOS companion for people who spend long days at their computer and want the desktop to feel a little less empty.
I wanted a desktop companion that could make focused work feel softer without turning into another noisy app. Mewie sits quietly, reacts to simple local signals, nudges you to pause, and celebrates the tiny wins that are easy to skip over.
The goal is not productivity theater. It is a little presence on your Mac that feels warm, playful, and respectful.
I build Mewie with AI-assisted development, but Mewie is not an unattended AI product. Every feature, privacy decision, license flow, support reply, release, signing step, and update is reviewed and owned by me.
That matters because cute software still has to be serious about trust.
Mewie is designed around local signals: cursor movement, app focus, typing rhythm, timers, and optional local agent event kinds. She does not need typed text, prompts, code, terminal output, screenshots, messages, documents, browser contents, full paths, or license keys.
If something is not needed for Mewie to feel alive, I do not want it in the product.
Because most software wants something back. Your attention, your data, your monthly seventeen kroner, your resigned click on “remind me later.” Somewhere along the way, useful started meaning extractive, and everything on your screen became a little landlord.
Mewie is my argument that it doesn’t have to be like that. She reads your rhythm, never your content, and you pay for her once, the way you’d buy a nice pen. Is she decorative? Proudly. But decorative isn’t disposable — people keep the small things that were made with care and throw away the big things that weren’t. I spent three weeks getting her breathing right. That’s either ridiculous or exactly the point, and I’ve made my peace with which.
Small, useful, honest, finished. In 2026, that’s practically a manifesto. Mostly, though, it’s a cat.
Mewie is an indie app, not a big company pretending to be a cute cat. That means I can listen closely, ship small fixes quickly, and keep the product opinionated instead of turning it into a dashboard full of noise.
The legal bit, plainly: Mewie is built and sold by Markus Skov (enkeltpersonforetak — a registered Norwegian sole proprietorship, org.nr 920 721 869). The person behind the org number and the person answering your support email are the same person.
